HVAC Engineer - Newcastle

Tesco Maintenance are currently looking to recruit aqualifiedHVAC Engineerin Newcastle to work as part of ourService Team.At Tesco, our stores and offices couldnt function without the support of our Maintenance Team. Working closely with the Store Leadership Teams, theHVAC Engineersdeliver statutory requirements and proactive planned maintenance using the operating model to minimise equipment breakdown and impact on business, in a prompt and cost effective way. Ensuring the business is able to continue to deliver its promise of serving Britains shoppers a little better every day.



  • Undertake all allocated HVAC reactive and planned maintenance tasks to an agreed standard.
  • Complete tasks within SLA requirements, with work orders opened and closed in real time.
  • Verisae usage and parts replenishment.
  • Timely completion of reactive and planned works carried out to agreed standards, achievement of first fix and maximising equipment uptime.
  • Effectively diagnose and identify faults and failures with equipment and systems and provide effective solutions and escalate where necessary.
  • Provide regular updates to helpdesk and planning team on task status.
  • Liaising with the store technicians and updating them on the status of maintenance work.
  • Provide HVAC technical support as required, e.g. advice regarding major operational issues.
  • Carry out work in accordance with all health and safety requirements and adhere to best safety working practices at all times.
  • Ensure parts and materials are ordered in a timely manner through company processes. Fit parts or components as prescribed by company procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate audits and checks are carried out in line with standards provided.
  • Deal with and make safe all health & safety related works following processes laid down by organisations Health and Safety Policy.

  • Proactively manage task volumes in conjunction with the helpdesk and planning team.
  • Notify the helpdesk and planning team of procedural task condition on completion of works.
  • Complete engineering surveys and technical reports as necessary and cascade all key data to relevant personnel.
  • Attend training courses as and when necessary to ensure skills are kept up to date to meet customer needs.
  • Supporting change within the business to ensure continuously improved performance. Highlighting opportunities to complete tasks in a better, simpler or cheaper way.
  • Delivering non-negotiable standards across the store.

Skills and experience needed to be great at this role:

  • Great communication skills.
  • Experience in a customer focussed environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is requiredalong with FGAS 2079 cat 1.

- Experience in;

  • air conditioning.
  • Comfort cooling systems.
  • Ventilation systems.
  • Hot & cold water systems.
  • LPHW heating & water systems.
  • Controls systems.
  • Electrical installations.

- Hands on experience of large Multi deck DX coil package system / VRV's / Split systems.
