Farm Leader - Solway Holiday Village, Silloth

Hagans Leisure Group are delighted to be recruiting for a Farm Leader to join our busy and growing team at Located at our Solway Holiday Village, Silloth, Cumbria.  This is a great opportunity for someone that is articulate and smart, has the ability to work on their own with initiative and provide a safe, secure & content enviroment for all the animals to live in.  

The farm is located adjacent to our caravan holiday park and has a varity of animal breeds. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, friendly and will contribute to a positive culture. We are looking someone who will work in-line with management to promote the Farm as a separate identity to become a profitable business. 

We require someone who is passionate about animals and enjoy working towards targets and goals.  We will need someone, to have excellent breed awareness, knowledge about health, safety and welfare and is dedicated to achieving great results. 

Duties

  • Liaise closely with managment to ensure the effective use of the land, by promoting the company and its activities;  
  • Ensure foo and bedding is readily available for the animals and changed on a regular basis;
  • Regular health checks of the animals and implement animal health programmes to maintain good health;
  • Ensure all inspections and records are carried out and maintained;
  • Maintaining a knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them;
  • Administering medication to the animals;
  • Regular hoof cleaning, trimming and grooming of the animals;
  • Keep uo to date with the vet’s recommendations and keep comprehensive records;
  • Vehicle/Tractor work to include - grassland husbandry, field sweeping, compost production and spreading, hay making, storage and distribution; Strimming and cleaning of walkways;  
  • Fencing installation, maintenance and repairs;  
  • Regular checking of trees, hedgerows and conservation areas within the farm and surrounding areas and their maintenance;  
  • To cover colleagues job roles in their absence, as required;  
  • Provide coaching, as required, to other staff to enable them to competently carry out day to day tasks required of them on farm. 

Experience

  • Prior experience in a farm environment.
