We are looking for a talented individual to join our team in the capacity of Luggage Porter (Day Shifts) for our newly opened hotel in The City (EC4V 2AU).

Vintry & Mercer is set in London’s Vintry Ward, among the livery halls, guilds and narrow streets that line the banks of the Thames.
This is where past and present intersects, where the long traditions of the trade and commerce come to life in the contemporary style of the hotel’s 92 bespoke rooms and suites.
The dynamism between old and new plays out again and again – in the hotel’s two restaurants, or the barrel-aged cocktails from the speakeasy bar, in the old traveller maps decorating walls, or the modern chandelier by Moooi.
It’s a hotel in the heart of the City, alive with the bustle of commerce and conversation that reflect its first-class location at the centre of the turning world.

Your role as Luggage Porter (Days) will come with the following responsibilities:

• Has a comprehensive knowledge about hotel outlets, facilities and services to assist the guests.
• Ensure precise handling and security of all guest luggage and bags.
• Ensures precise counting of group luggage upon arrival and departure, delivers luggage to and from hotel rooms in a timely manner.
• Transfers trunks, packages, and other baggage to room or loading area
• Maintain the tidiness of the front of the house area and luggage storage room.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the hotel frontage including the steps and pavement area.
• Ensure front door is always attended to meet and greet guests upon arrival.
• Supply guests with travel information, such as transportation rates, routes, and schedules.
• Escorts incoming guests to reception for check in, to rooms as and when required
• Is familiar with the day's business, including arrivals, departures, meeting and events and special requests, etc.
• To complete cleaning of lobby areas as required for hotel upkeep.
• To competently use workplace equipment and computers, with no mishandling or misuse of the hotel computer system
• To assist with room service and drink orders when required during the overnight shift.
• Handles all guest enquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
• To be observant and ensure the security of the hotel, the staff and it guests at all times.
• Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Management of the Hotel and department.

Functional Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Previous experience as Luggage Porter or in a similar role gained in a 4/5* environment is ideal
• Working knowledge of Opera and Microsoft Office
• Contagious personality, energetic & enthusiastic
• Confident & humble
• Outstanding organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
• Able to work within a team and on own initiative (A Self Starter)

Social Skills and Experience

To possess the ability to communicate with guests and colleagues in order to project a positive image of the hotel at all times. The ability to maintain hotel standards of work under pressure.
