Job description:

Job Title: eVan Driver

Location:  London, N1 9PT

Contract Type:  Full Time

Working Hours:  40 hours per week, Shift Work (8hr)

Salary: £22,984.00 per annum + excellent benefits

London's public bike sharing scheme is available 24/7, 365 days a year. There are more than 12,000 bikes and over 700 bike docking stations across London to help you get around quickly and easily. The scheme recently expanded to Southwest London so now you can saddle up anywhere from Shepherds Bush to Canary Wharf and Wandsworth Town to Camden Town.

As an eVan Driver at LCHS you will be responsible for depositing and swapping eBike batteries on-street as well as riding an eCargo bike to help with battery distribution. You will be the public face of Serco’s London Cycle Hire team in the community, representing the business in a very positive way and interacting with members of the public in a friendly and approachable manner.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Cycle Hire Hubs, when necessary, across the scheme during morning & evening peaks
  • Transporting eBike batteries by driving eVans and riding eCargo bikes around the city
  • Swapping eBike batteries on-street
  • Completing mobile triage of Cycle Hire fleet across the scheme (pedal and eBikes)
  • Collection of abandoned and damaged bicycles as requested by the Control Centre
  • Providing assistance to the workshop on an adhoc basis to support workshop operations

You won’t be doing this alone either. Our team is made up of professional, friendly, and supportive teammates, including managers who began their careers with Serco as On Street and Redistribution Operatives who now hold Team Leader, Operations Manager and Contract Manager titles.

Serco is a FTSE 250 business with a turnover in excess of £4.5 billion. We are a leading support services business who has grown consistently and now operates over 700 contracts in over 30 countries around the world.

What do I need to do the role?

This is a role that is vital to the success of the Cycle Hire Scheme, and we are looking for candidates that take great pride in their work and are committed to being the best ambassadors for the Cycle Hire Service. Our eVan Drivers, as part of the On-Street Maintenance Operatives, directly contribute to making London a greener place to live and visit and are responsible for making sure our bikes are safe for all to use. It is important that you are able to take that responsibility seriously and are a considerate and courteous operative.

We are dedicated to the ongoing development and career progression of our Multi-Skilled Operatives, with outstanding training opportunities made available to you, along with the chance to undertake additional qualifications. These include, Health & Safety courses, Team Leader and Management training and a supportive management team who will provide guidance and advice to ensure you achieve all that you want to with Serco.

You will be a confident cyclist and due to the mobility part of the role it's essential that you hold a driving license, so please make sure this is visible on your CV when applying.

Previous experience of working within the Micromobilty sector is not essential as we will provide any additional training you may need.

Please note, this position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
