We are the Alton Towers Resort and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join us at the Alton Towers Resort, the UK's only attraction that specialises in making Britain happy!

In this role you will create memorable experiences for our guests by keeping our rides and attractions operating at the peak of efficiency and safety.  Working within our Technical Services team you’ll use your passion for getting the job done in the most efficient and effective way possible, working on some of Britain’s most iconic rides and attractions.  You’ll look for opportunities to find long term solutions, not just make a quick fix.  You’ll be empowered to make decisions and you’ll genuinely want to make a difference at the Resort.  The experience and safety of our guests is our key priority, and you will have a direct positive impact on this.

We are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • A fully qualified & experienced electrical engineer who can bring a wealth of maintenance experience to the team
  • As well as technical ability, we’re looking for a detailed person who thinks outside of the box.
  • It will be essential that you can read and understand electrical schematics.
  • You will need to have a keen eye for detail and be competent to interrogate and fault find around highly sophisticated control systems involving safety plc’s, AC/DC drives, HMI/SCADA, communication networking.
  • We’re not necessarily looking for a PLC programmer but for somebody who is able to interpret ladder code using manufacturers software.
  • Knowledge of industrial type networks would be ideal although not essential
  • You will be expected to follow and understand written instructions and you will be a good communicator who is able to produce accurate written reports
  • Familiar with the use of a CMMS would be very beneficial.

You’ll be a supportive team member, who’ll work closely with colleagues on the best solutions to problem solving. The role is full time, permanent, averaging 40 hours per week and will include weekends and bank holidays as required.  The team work early and noon shifts on a rota, with the added benefit of a Monday to Friday “days” type shift pattern during the months when the theme Park is closed to guests.  There is an extra payment for noon shifts, and 6th day working when required.

Alongside a competitive basic salary of £33,677- with additional shift payments available- and 28 days holiday (rising to 33 over 5 years of service) including bank holidays, you can look forward to enjoying a great benefits package including a Group Personal Pension Plan, Employee ShareSave scheme, Merlin Magic Pass, Employee Assistance Programme, Childcare Vouchers, Life Assurance, 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants, 40% discount online on Lego, and much more!

There are opportunities for career advancement at a local, national and international level.
