Vacancy Description – Switchboard Operator/Driver
(full time, NMW/NLW, typical shifts between the hours of 6pm and 2.30am, 5 days out of 7)
As a Switchboard Operator you will ensure that all calls into the main switchboard are answered promptly, efficiently and in a timely, friendly and courteous manner at all times. You will be responsible for ensuring that all calls are put through to the correct extension number with a polite talk line.
Your main duties will include:
- To answer the phones within three rings and to transfer any calls as necessary with an appropriate talk line. If necessary to take a message and ensure it is passed on promptly to the relevant person/department.
- To check all, none private, Reception emails and respond when possible.
- To update guest profiles in the front of house system.
- To take Hotel Reservations in the absence of the Reservation Team
- To maintain stock and stationary levels and arrange storage
- To maintain a clean, tidy and safe office environment including light housekeeping duties
- To take advance Restaurant Reservations.
- To be knowledgeable about the local area, attractions, directions and facilities and to supply this information to guests on request.
- To undertake any typing or other administrative duties as and when required.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as deemed appropriate by a Supervisor or Manager
You will also be responsible for the operation of our Staff Bus between the hours of 11pm and 2am, therefore you will be require a full, clean UK driving licence.
Skills Required
- To have a great personality and be genuine, approachable, attentive and instinctive
- To be smart and well presented
- Good standard of numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Good level of spoken and written English
- Full, Clean UK Driving Licence
- To be able to work shifts that generally will be between 6pm and 2.30am, which will include weekends and bank holidays
