Active Outdoors Assistant - Ambleside

Summary

We're looking for an Active Outdoors Assistant. Day to day, you'll be instrumental in supporting the outdoor activity offer at our property, helping as many people as possible engage with the outdoors and enjoy our beautiful places.


The Hours: Full-time - 37.5 hours per week, weekend work required.


The Salary:  £9.60 per hour


Duration: Fixed-term until 25 September 2022.

What you'll be doing

Assisting with the day to day delivery of a wide variety of sporting & outdoor activities, you'll engage with visitors, checking and hiring watersport equipment and bikes and helping them to plan their day.

Alongside their operational duties, the successful applicant will be responsible for the regular servicing and maintenance of our fleet of hire bikes, ensuring that they are set up and presented to our customers to the highest and safest possible standard.



Who we're looking for

You'll need to have the following experience: 

  • Working with the public in an outdoor setting. 
  • Customer service with a focus on helping visitors enjoy their visit. 
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to give clear instructions about the safe use of equipment. 
  • Some knowledge of health and safety processes and how these should be applied to outdoor activities. 
  • Experience of undertaking physical tasks on a daily basis. Given the nature of the role, relevant experience could include: small water craft operation, cash handling, customer service, health and safety, cleaning, presentation and simple maintenance. 
  • Cash handling and daily cashing up using an electronic till. 
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use software, such as an electronic booking system.
